Journals Removed from Scopus in August 2026 — Three New Titles on the List of Publications Whose Indexing Has Been Discontinued. We have already mentioned two of these three journals in the “Candidates for Removal from Scopus” section. Our team has been following Edelweiss Applied Science and Technology since 2024.
For Ukrainian researchers, these changes may mean they need to revise their publication plans. If an article is needed for a dissertation defense, a competition, or academic reporting, it is important to check in advance whether the issue in which it appears will be included in Scopus. A mere mention of the database on the journal’s website is not enough.
The data is presented on the worksheet Titles Discontinued in August 2026. The red color indicates new entries in the list. Let's take a look at the August list, review previous overviews, and explain what authors should check.
The magazines we warned you about
In the section “Journals at Risk of Being Removed from Scopus,” we analyze changes in journals that may pose risks to authors: editorial practices, article topics, publication trends, and changes in publishers.
Of the three new titles on the August list, two are magazines from our previous reviews.
Edelweiss Applied Science and Technology: Issue No. 6. Almost two years ago, we took notice of this journal. In that article, we noted that we had been monitoring it since January 2024 and described the widespread invitations to publish and what we assessed as a decline in the quality of manuscript selection. Even then, we warned authors about the risks of indexing. View the review in Issue No. 6 →
International Journal of Computer Information Systems and Industrial Management Applications: Issue No. 15. In this review, we noted a change in publisher, an increase in the number of special issues, and the publication of articles outside the journal’s stated scope. The journal has been added to our list of journals at increased risk of losing their indexing status. View the review in Issue No. 15 →
Both titles are now on the August list of journals no longer indexed. This underscores the importance of checking in advance: it’s a good idea to assess changes to a journal even before submitting a manuscript.

For this journal, the coverage cutoff is: the second issue of 2026. The table does not provide detailed information on when the “Journal Change Policy” status applies.
What does this mean for authors?
Discontinuing the journal's indexing does not mean that all of its previous articles will be automatically deleted. According to Elsevier's guidelines, articles that have already been indexed generally remain in the database. The journal change policy applies to changes in a publication—such as its title, owner, or editorial leadership—after which continued indexing is not guaranteed.
If the article has already been published, find it in Scopus by title or DOI and verify that the volume and issue match the coverage period. If the manuscript is still with the editor, confirm the planned issue before making any further payments or approvals. To count a publication toward a thesis defense or reporting requirements, check your institution’s specific requirements separately.
Conclusions
Three new titles on the August list, two previous notices in our column, and varying coverage periods: from 2023 to 2026. This illustrates why the list’s update date should not be taken as the date by which all of the journal’s publications were indexed.
