Journals Removed from Scopus in September 2026

In its September update, Scopus discontinued indexing 10 new journals. By comparison, there were three in August. Among them is the Ukrainian *East European Journal of Physics* published by V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, as well as the journal we warned about in the “Candidates for Removal from Scopus” section.

For Ukrainian researchers, these changes may mean revising their publication plans. If you need an article for a dissertation defense, a competition, or reporting purposes, check in advance whether the issue in which it appears will be included in Scopus. A mere mention of the database on the journal’s website is not enough.

The magazine we warned you about

International Journal of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (IJAIML). In Issue No. 16 of the “Candidates for Removal from Scopus” column, we estimated the probability of its exclusion at 100%. At that time, the journal had already published 11 special issues over the first nine months of 2026, instead of its usual two issues per year. About a quarter of the articles were unrelated to artificial intelligence. Now, IJAIML is on the September list.

Please note the coverage limit: Scopus has stopped at Special Issue 8s. Articles from Special Issues 9s, 10s, and 11s will no longer be included in the database.

Four more journals using the same format are still accepting articles!
Check to see if you're submitting the following there:

Journals Removed from Scopus: September 2026 List

    • Publisher: Advanced Electromagnetics (France).
    • E-ISSN: 2119-0275.
    • Status: Journal Change Policy.
    • Last update: 2026, Vol. 15, No. 2, pp. 21–34.

Issue 3 for 2026 has already been published on the journal's website, but it is not included in the Scopus index.

    • Publisher: V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.
    • ISSN: 2312-4334. E-ISSN: 2312-4539.
    • Status: Discontinuation.
    • Last update: 2026, Issue 2, pp. 622–632.

The only Ukrainian journal on the September list. The “Discontinuation” status means that indexing has been discontinued following a quality reassessment. This is not a technical change regarding the publisher or the title. Authors of articles published after the second issue of 2026 should check whether their article is listed in Scopus.

    • Publisher: Ala-Too International University (Kyrgyzstan).
    • ISSN: 1694-5948. E-ISSN: 1694-5972.
    • Status: Journal Change Policy.
    • Last update: 2025, Vol. 18, No. 35, pp. 75–111.

The journal was included in Scopus only in 2024, becoming the first Kyrgyz journal on business and economics in the database. The coverage period already extends to 2025.

    • Publisher: European Journal of Prosthodontics and Restorative Dentistry (United Kingdom).
    • ISSN: 0965-7452. E-ISSN: 2396-8893.
    • Status: Journal Change Policy.
    • Last update: 2025, Vol. 33, No. 4, pp. 465–470.
    • Publication's website: EJPRD.

The journal has been published since 1992 and is still indexed in MEDLINE. However, Scopus's coverage ended with the last issue of 2025.

    • Publisher: SvedbergOpen.
    • E-ISSN: 2789-2557.
    • Status: Journal Change Policy.
    • Last update: 2026, Vol. 6, Special Issue 8s, pp. 608–615.
    • Publication's website: IJAIML.

We mentioned this magazine in Issue No. 16 of the "Contenders" section. See above for more details.

    • Publisher on the list: Emerald Publishing.
    • ISSN: 2050-8824. E-ISSN: 2050-8832.
    • Status: Journal Change Policy.
    • Last update: 2024, Vol. 15, No. 3–4, pp. 31–43.
    • Publication's website: JIDOB.

The journal has moved from Emerald to a new publisher, NewtonGate LLC. A change in publisher is a typical reason for triggering the "Journal Change Policy."

    • Publisher: Multinational Finance Society.
    • ISSN: 1096-1879.
    • Status: Journal Change Policy.
    • Last update: 2026, Vol. 30, No. 1–2, pp. 25–56.

Since late 2024, the journal has been published by the University of Vaasa (Finland).

    • Publisher: Pakistan Botanical Society.
    • ISSN: 0556-3321. E-ISSN: 2070-3368.
    • Status: Discontinuation.
    • Last update: 2026, Vol. 58, No. 6, pp. 1392–1398.

The magazine has been published since 1968. Starting in January 2026, it switched from a bimonthly to a monthly publication schedule.

    • Publisher: Editions ESKA (France).
    • ISSN: 1951-0187. E-ISSN: 2105-3022.
    • Status: Journal Change Policy.
    • Last update: 2026, Vol. 21, No. 2, pp. 112–120.

In the Scopus list, the journal's title is listed incorrectly as "Responsible."

    • Publisher on the list: University of Murcia (Spain).
    • ISSN: 2254-4070. E-ISSN: 2340-8812.
    • Status: Journal Change Policy.
    • Last update: 2026, Volume 15, Article No. 70.

In August 2026, the journal was transferred from the University of Murcia to a new publisher, the EAAOSS association, and moved to a new website.

The next Scopus update is coming in November!

What does this mean for authors?

Discontinuing a journal's indexing does not mean that all of its articles will be automatically removed. Indexed materials typically remain in the database. The only articles that are not included in Scopus are those published after the coverage cutoff date.

There are two different reasons listed in the September list. “Discontinuation” (EEJP, Pakistan Journal of Botany) refers to a decision based on the results of a quality reassessment. “Journal change policy” (the remaining eight) refers to changes in the publication: publisher, title, or editorial policy. At least three of these eight journals have recently changed publishers.

If the article has already been published, find it in Scopus by title or DOI and compare the volume and issue with the coverage cutoff. If the manuscript is still with the editorial office, confirm the planned issue before making your next payments.

    Conclusions

Ten new titles, one Ukrainian journal, and one confirmed alert from our section. The coverage range in the list is from 2024 to 2026. Therefore, the date the list was updated should not be taken as the date by which all articles in the journal have been indexed.

Check the current status of the publication, any changes in the publisher, and the publication schedule before submitting your manuscript, not after.
