Good afternoon, dear scientists! The Academy of Articles is here with you. We continue our column - publications that will soon lose indexing in Scopus. The previous article was very useful for many of you, and we have again conducted an analysis of publications at risk.
This time we present to you a list of two publications that are currently indexed in Scopus, but according to our observations, violate all the rules and requirements of the Scopus database for scientific publications and will soon be excluded from the database.
Also, due to recent events, many journals have been excluded from Scopus, but this is not reflected on the site. Today we will tell you about three such publications so that you are careful.
Magazines:
International Journal of Religion – The first edition was accepted by Scopus in December 2023. It was accepted with pleasure, as it is a very narrow niche — religion, but after acceptance, the journal began accepting all articles from the social sciences.
List of violations for which a journal is likely to be excluded from the database:
1) Incredible increase in the number of published articles over the past five months. The journal has already published over 600 articles.
2) No peer review. Articles are accepted within 10 days without any review. They are published on the site within a month. The cost of publishing one article is $700.
Result: Currently, only the first three issues of 2024 are indexed. The fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh issues are not indexed and probably will not be. With a probability of 100%, the journal will be removed from the database within the next few months.
- International Journal of Chemical and Biochemical Sciences – the journal was accepted into Scopus in 2022. In 22 years, the journal has published 50 articles, and in 23 years, 197, all of which were indexed in Scopus.
List of violations:
A very sharp increase in the number of published articles and issues. In 2024, the journal has already published 7 issues with 25-40 articles each. The articles have not undergone any peer review, so it is highly likely that the articles for 2024 will not be indexed.
Lack of peer review.
Popular publications among Ukrainian scientists that are currently excluded from Scopus, although the site shows that they are actively indexed:
- Review of Economics and Finance – https://www.scopus.com/sourceid/21100915633
- Journal of Higher Education: Theory and Practice – https://www.scopus.com/sourceid/21101038744
- Azerbaijan Pharmaceutical and Pharmacotherapy Journal –https://www.scopus.com/sourceid/19700175121
Result: Unfortunately, many Ukrainian scientists and many articles were published in these publications, which, unfortunately, will not be indexed. Below we attach the official response from Scopus stating that the journals are no longer indexed in Scopus, and unindexed content will not be indexed.
Conclusions:
Our team has shown you 2 publications that, according to our forecasts, will soon be excluded from the Scopus database, as well as 3 publications that have already been excluded from the database. We understand that the offer of fast publication is always attractive to our colleagues, but dear scientists, we strongly ask you to be more careful when choosing a publication for publication or an intermediary company that offers you fast publication in an indexed publication. As you can see from our analysis, the Academy of Articles carefully approaches the choice of publications with which it cooperates so as not to put its clients at risk. We strive to popularize this issue so that more and more Ukrainian scientists are more attentive to the places of publication of their articles and the choice of an intermediary company. Do not succumb to fast publication deadlines for little money, because this will always backfire. Follow our column to stay up to date with all the news and not be exposed to danger.
