One of the main requirements for obtaining this title is the presence of publications in scientific journals that meet certain criteria established by national legislation and regulations. The main ones include:

  • A certificate in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (level not lower than B2) in the languages of the European Union countries, or relevant qualification documents confirming the use of these languages. An alternative may be the presence of at least 10 scientific papers published in English in journals included in the scientometric databases Scopus or Web of Science, which are not translations from other languages;
  • Publications in category "B" journals published after the dissertation defense;
  • Documents confirming internship abroad and others.

Questions regarding publications for the title of associate professor are always best clarified with the academic secretary of the university. However, in general, universities have the following requirements for publications for the title of associate professor:

Conclusions:

Today we have considered the main requirements for obtaining the title of associate professor in 2024 and analyzed in detail the issues of scientific publications for its receipt. The title of associate professor is an important stage in the professional activity of a scientist and teacher, which opens up significant prospects for career growth, salary increases, access to research funding, and also strengthens social and scientific authority. Associate professors can hold leadership positions in universities, participate in international scientific projects and significantly expand their opportunities for further professional development.
A serious challenge for candidates for the title of associate professor is also meeting the English language proficiency requirement. Recently, many higher education institutions do not accept certain types of B2 level certificates, and having ten publications in Scopus or Web of Science is a difficult and not always achievable task.
