October 2024 brought new exclusions of scientific journals from Scopus, causing a wave of concern among the scientific community. Over the past month, several journals have been removed from the list due to non-compliance with quality criteria and suspicion of unscrupulous practices.
This time, our list includes several journals in which many Ukrainian scientists published and which were excluded in October 2024.
Recently, we have observed a trend where Scopus does not publish all journals that it excludes from its list, but only some of them. However, thanks to our investigations, we are also adding to the list those journals that were excluded but not included in the official list.
Official list
- Computer-Aided Design and Applications (reference in Scopus – here).
This journal, which specialized in computer design and applications, was excluded from the Scopus database due to unscrupulous publishing practices and poor peer review quality that did not meet the database's standards. - Economic Affairs (New Delhi) (reference in Scopus – here).
This journal was very popular among Ukrainian scientists: from 2023 to 2024, about 60-70% issues were made up of Ukrainian articles. The journal was excluded by the Radar system, which reacted to the fact that in 2023-2024, only scientists from India and Ukraine published in the journal, there was a low number of citations and an extremely low quality of articles, especially from Ukrainian scientists. - Uncertain Supply Chain Management (посилання в Scopus – here).
The journal, which was previously an important platform for the study of supply chain issues, was removed from Scopus following the results of the Radar system, which revealed unscrupulous publishing practices and problems with peer review transparency.
Journals not on the official list
Archives of science (reference in Scopus – here) – this journal is not included in the official list of excluded journals, but it was excluded in September 2024 with a complete deindexation of all articles for 2023 and 2024. We have been monitoring this journal since the summer of 2024 and noticed that many Ukrainian scientists publish in it. Therefore, according to our personal observations, the journal was excluded due to the Radar system, which recorded an active surge in published articles of inadequate quality and a decline in citations. After checking, all articles indexed in 2023 and 2024 were removed.
Heranca - History, Heritage and Culture Journal (посилання в Scopus – here) – this journal was also excluded from the deindexation of articles for 2023 and 2024. The reason for the exclusion was the low quality of the articles and low citation rates.
Journal of Computational Analysis and Applications (reference in Scopus – here) – this journal was also excluded, but not included in the list. In 2024, the journal began to accept everything in a row, to which the Radar system responded. All published articles for 2024 were not and will not be indexed.

Conclusions:
Excluding journals from Scopus — is an important mechanism that helps maintain the quality of scientific literature. It serves as a warning to publishers and editors about the need to adhere to high standards of quality and ethics. The Radar system plays a key role in identifying journals with anomalous activity and warning about possible violations. For scientists, it is a reminder of the importance of carefully selecting journals for publication and checking their compliance with international standards.
We understand that the offer of fast publication is always attractive to our colleagues, however, dear scientists, we strongly urge you to be careful when choosing a publishing house or an intermediary company that offers fast publication in indexed journals. The Academy of Articles carefully approaches the selection of publications with which it cooperates in order to protect the interests of its clients. We strive to raise awareness on this issue so that more and more Ukrainian scientists are careful when choosing places to publish their works and intermediary companies. Do not fall for promises of fast publication for little money, as this can always lead to serious problems. Follow our column to stay up to date with all the news and not put yourself at risk.
We also want to remind you of the importance of Publication Concerns - the need to closely monitor the reputation and ethical standards of the journals in which you plan to publish.
