On Thursday morning, September 11, 2025, Scopus released updated data on the indexing of scientific publications. The Academy of Articles team immediately prepared this list so that you can be the first to know about the changes and beware of excluded publications.
Eight journals were officially excluded in August. The reasons are questionable editorial quality and so-called outlier behavior (abnormal behavior of a journal: unnatural jumps in citations, massive cross-citations, excessive self-citations or anomalous growth in the volume of publications). Such deviations signal possible manipulation of metrics or violations of editorial ethics.
On the August list right away four positions fell on the magazines of an Italian publisher Minerva Medica Editions: Minerva Gastroenterology, Minerva Medica, Minerva Surgery, Panminerva Medica. At the same time, the publisher also has other journals that (according to the publications themselves) are indexed in Scopus, for example, Minerva Pediatrics, Minerva Respiratory Medicine, Journal of Neurosurgical Sciences. Therefore, before submitting a manuscript to any publication of this publisher, be sure to check the current status in the Scopus source profile.

The September update showed: Even well-known and long-standing journals can suddenly lose indexing, including an entire block of titles from a single publisher. The trend is growing — Scopus systematically detects anomalies in metrics and editorial practices, and the review/exclusion lists are updated monthly.
Before each submission, be sure to check the journal's profile in Scopus and do not rely on outdated statements on the websites of publications "indexed in Scopus".
