August 2024 brought new exclusions of scientific journals from Scopus, causing a wave of concern among the scientific community. Over the past month, several journals have been removed from the list due to non-compliance with quality criteria and suspicion of unscrupulous practices. Below is a list of journals that were excluded in August 2024.
- EAI Endorsed Transactions on Scalable Information Systems (reference in Scopus – here).
This journal, which specialized in scalable information systems, was removed from the Scopus database due to unethical publication practices and poor peer review quality that did not meet the database's standards. - International Journal of Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance (reference in Scopus – here).
Pharmaceutical science has always demanded the highest level of quality and accuracy in publications. However, this journal was found to be in violation of publication ethics requirements, leading to its exclusion from Scopus. - Scientific Herald of Uzhhorod University. Series Physics (reference in Scopus – here).
The journal, which was previously an important platform for the physical sciences, lost its place in Scopus due to problems with the peer-review system and suspicions of violations of transparency standards. - International journal of religion (reference in Scopus – here) – this journal was not listed, but was excluded from the Scopus database and all articles for 2024 were deindexed. In the screenshot below, you can see that the journal was excluded.

The journal may be included in the list next month, or it may not be included at all, as this journal has violated all existing rules of integrity for scientific publications indexed in Scopus. Reasons for excluding all logs: Radar system.

- A sharp spike in the number of published articles;
- Reducing the geographical diversity of authors;
- Changing the topics of publications compared to the goals and scope of the journal;
- A very active surge in citations or, conversely, a serious decline.
